WELCOME 2007!

2006 Is Almost Over!
But there are some really cool things happening at Trinity Photography these days! We've had our Beckham Group photo/ad layout printed in DMagazine, Texas Monthly, and Texas Superlawyers, and we will soon have another image in Texas Superlawyer's Rising Star Magazine. Although we worked hard on the image, we had some help with the lighting from Miguel Pardo, a local Dallas Wedding/Portrait photographer.

We Have A New Assistant!
We have a new face around the studio now. Jessica joined us recently and is planning to graduate from UTD this Spring. She'll be assisting with office procedures and helping me during portraits and weddings. She's been doing a great job and we're so excited to have her!

We've Added More Products!
We've added more products and albums to our repertoire and we know you will love them! We have some exclusive album cover materials that are available for a limited time only (black, red, and ivory ostritch, super suede, and leather colors like paris pink, bubblegum, butter, and paprika!). If you would like the opportunity to order one of our new products or upgrade your current album with a new cover, call our office at 214.566.2465 or email us.

Have A Happy & Safe New Year!
We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and has a happy and safe New Year! We look forward to sharing 2007 with you!

SWEET 16

We were recently contacted by Rob Johnson from MyWedding.com regarding a special needs young lady here in Dallas. Chantrell Clements was severely injured as a baby and wasn't expected to live through the night of her accident. After multiple brain surgeries and therapy, Chantrell survived, but is severly handicapped and confined to a wheelchair.

Chantrell's mother, Paula Jackson, found MyWedding.com and was so impressed with the quality of the vendors that she contact Rob. Through their conversation, Paula expressed her sorrow that Chantrell would never experience a wedding due to her handicap. Paula was in the process of searching for vendors for her daughter's sweet 16 and Rob offered to locate vendors from MyDallasWedding.com who would donate their time and services to the family.

By the grace of God, 16 years later, Chantrell was able to celebrate her Sweet 16 with her family and friends at the Cathedral of Faith in Dallas, Texas. We were honored to provide our photographic services to Chantrell and her family. You can view Chantrell's big day at: chantrellclements.com. You can also read the article I wrote for the Dallas Morning News at: Mesquite Neighbors

Rob, Paula, Jeremy, and I would also like to thank the following vendors for their support and contributions to Chantrell.

GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY!

A famous line for robbers, right? Well, last week I heard it for real. No, I wasn't held up, but the gas station I was in was held up. Jeremy and I were shopping and I headed for the front door when I heard Jeremy practically hissing my name. Immediately I turned around thinking what is his problem?! He was directing me to come to him and get on the floor. I could tell then that there was something going on up front. I looked over to my left and less than 20 feet away was an armed gunman demanding all the cash in the register. I ran over to Jeremy and fell to the floor. He huddled over me and we waited. The whole time I'm praying to Jesus and thinking about scenes in the news and movies where people get shot for looking at the robbers. I deliberately kept my face down and my hands around my eyes. I kept waiting to hear a gun go off, but it never did. It wasn't until after he left that Jeremy told me the guy looked right at him with his run in his hand. I didn't know until then that there was actually a gun present.

Of course, after the guy leaves (on a bicycle!!! Can you believe it?!), we're locked in there for over an hour giving testimonies and such. It was really awful, but I am SO thankful that my two year old daughter wasn't there with us. I would have been hysterical... seriously.

The lessons we learned - Don't find yourself in a gas station that sells alcohol after dark in a not-so-great part of town. You never know what can happen. AND, God is definitely watching out for us and for the man with a wife and kids behind the register who was on the business end of that hand gun.

ISABELLE ON SAFARI!

We took Miss Isabelle to Fossil Rim over Labor Day weekend and she had a great time getting close and personal with the wild life! What a great place for families! If you haven't been yet, you definitely have to go and check it out. Purchasing a membership will get you into 100's of Zoo's nationwide. The Dallas Zoo and the Dallas Aquarium are a couple of the great places your membership passcard works.

EDIT & JARED

Edit and Jared got married on August 20th and immediately moved to Hawaii!

Now they are getting settled in and enjoying every minute of it! You can see images from their wedding on our website's wedding gallery.

IN HONOR OF 9/11

I remember waking up late and getting ready for class, driving to school and entering the classroom only to hear my professor give the grim details of the morning's events. We pulled a tv in from the AV closet and everyone huddled around it. We were all in shock... and confused as well as fearful. We stopped to pray, and before long class was over and we all migrated downstairs for chapel. No one knew why the plane had flown into the first tower. It was really hard to pay attention, but our school's President was interweaving the day's events into his message. Not long after that we went to the coffee shop to wait for the next class and that's when we saw the other plane fly into the second tower. Then, in complete unbelief, I knew that this wasn't an accident. My mind couldn't fathom someone intentionally crashing into a building, no less two planes and two buildings, but there it was. I skipped class that day and stayed there in the coffee shop watching the tv, crying, praying, and hoping for some answer. And just as I had seen the second plane fly into the first building, I saw one come down after the other... My compassion turned to anger and I felt helpless. People were saying "terrorists", "Muslim terrorists". I heard on the news that the terrorists were taking part in jihad (holy war) in honor of their god Allah. It was at this point that many people began asking about Allah's identity verses the Christian God, Jehovah. Many people thought they were the same, but they are not.

A professor and friend of mine, Dr. Ergun Caner wrote several books with his brother about Islam. For those who don't know the difference between Allah and Jehovah you should definately check out the link below. I had the honor of writing the opening chapter to a collaborative book entitled "Voices Behind the Veil". You can view more about these books by visiting: http://www.erguncaner.com.

This is my short account of my experience on 9/11. Every time I see a plane now I expect it to blow up or crash into a building. Southwest airlines flies right over downtown Dallas and every plane I see is headed for the Chase bank building... or at least that's what I expect to happen. Every time I go to the airport, or get on a plane I'm looking for an out... I'm thinking of what I could use to defend myself, my two year old daughter, my husband. And every time I hear a chopper or jet overhead I expect that terrorists are near. I don't live in a state of panic, but I think that if we were all honest about our experience, we could all say that we definitely see our world in a new way now. I know I do. I feel the need to always be prepared for the worst. If I weren't a Christian I would probably go mad, but I know that Jesus has a plan for my life, so I live prepared, and hope in His provision.

Anyone that would like to share their experience here is welcome to, and anyone who would like more information about my faith in Jesus, please don't hesitate to post, call, or email me.

SELF PORTRAITS & THE TATTOO RANT

Ok, so many of you have asked me why we don't have pictures of ourselves on our website... and I guess we need to, but for now you can gaze upon us here.

One of these black and whites of Jeremy was posted in our portrait section. Myself, I like to keep a low profile so I keep my potential clients guessing. You would be suprised how many people are uncomfortable with my tattoos. It's like the big, GIGANTIC elephant in the room that they are dying to look at but they don't want me to catch them peeking. I can say for sure that I have lost business to a few brides as a result of my tattoos. At first I was really peeved, but, now I figure it's better that they find out sooner instead of later. Besides, I don't want to work for someone who isn't comfortable with me because it will definitely show up in the pictures... pictures with the deer in the headlights looks... Yes, I am speaking from experience... experience with people who were clearly uncomfortable with my ink.

Sometimes I'm cracking up behind that camera, that's why I'm staying back there so long. :)

And for those who don't know me, and are reading this before an appointment, don't worry, I only have a few visable tattoos. No sleeves or anything intense like that. Just a few small pieces here and there. And you are welcome to ask me if you can see them when we meet. :)

WE BIT THE BLOG BULLET...

We're so excited to start this blog! We've got so much to share with the our readers! The first is our introduction of the newly overhauled TrinityPhotography.Net. We're going live on Monday! Yeah! FINALLY. I have been working 24 hour shifts trying to get images edited, resized and maintain my normal workflow. Now that it's ready to go, I need a vacation! Unfortunately, for wedding photographers, everyone else's normal vacation time is summer... but that's the busiest time of the year for us! Well, at least we'll miss the crowds, right?

We also trashed our old logo and designed a new one to reflect our growth and progression in the industry. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback on it. Feel free to comment, just be nice. :)

I'm going to go work on some more images right now, but I'll have a great post for you soon, so don't be gone too long.
