GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY!

A famous line for robbers, right? Well, last week I heard it for real. No, I wasn't held up, but the gas station I was in was held up. Jeremy and I were shopping and I headed for the front door when I heard Jeremy practically hissing my name. Immediately I turned around thinking what is his problem?! He was directing me to come to him and get on the floor. I could tell then that there was something going on up front. I looked over to my left and less than 20 feet away was an armed gunman demanding all the cash in the register. I ran over to Jeremy and fell to the floor. He huddled over me and we waited. The whole time I'm praying to Jesus and thinking about scenes in the news and movies where people get shot for looking at the robbers. I deliberately kept my face down and my hands around my eyes. I kept waiting to hear a gun go off, but it never did. It wasn't until after he left that Jeremy told me the guy looked right at him with his run in his hand. I didn't know until then that there was actually a gun present.

Of course, after the guy leaves (on a bicycle!!! Can you believe it?!), we're locked in there for over an hour giving testimonies and such. It was really awful, but I am SO thankful that my two year old daughter wasn't there with us. I would have been hysterical... seriously.

The lessons we learned - Don't find yourself in a gas station that sells alcohol after dark in a not-so-great part of town. You never know what can happen. AND, God is definitely watching out for us and for the man with a wife and kids behind the register who was on the business end of that hand gun.
